For a large family photoshoot in Casa de Campo, your villa is usually the best choice: there is no location fee, everyone stays comfortable, and grandparents and small children do not have to travel. Minitas Beach is ideal if you want the ocean at sunset, and Altos de Chavón is perfect for a timeless, architectural look. For groups of 10 or more, we recommend a session of more than one hour, so the photographer can work calmly with each family and you receive more photos.
Many of the families who book with us travel to Casa de Campo to celebrate something important: a grandmother's 70th birthday, a grandfather's 100th, a reunion that brings three or four generations together. This guide explains how to choose the right location, how we organize a big group, and how to plan the day so everyone enjoys it.

Quick Answer: Villa, Minitas Beach or Altos de Chavón?
Your Casa de Campo villa
No location fee
Everyone stays comfortable, including grandparents and small children. Your host authorizes our photographer’s entry; we send the details one week before.
Minitas Beach
US$100 for Casa de Campo guests
Choose it for the sea and soft afternoon light. We plan a spot near the access path if walking on sand is difficult.
Altos de Chavón
US$100 for guests · US$200 for outside visitors
Request the permit four days ahead. The latest session start is 5:00 p.m.; the session can finish by 6:00 p.m. The streets have cobblestones and steps.
Fees reflect our booking experience in October 2026. We confirm the current amount and access when you book.
Why the Villa Is Often the Best Choice for Large Families
When 10, 15 or even 30 people need to be ready at the same time, logistics matter as much as the background. Photographing at your villa means nobody has to coordinate transportation, small children can nap until the last minute, and grandparents can rest in the shade between photos. Many villas in Casa de Campo also have beautiful gardens, pools and terraces that work wonderfully for group portraits.
There is no location fee for a session at your villa. The only step is access: Casa de Campo is a gated resort, so your host needs to authorize our photographer's entry. One week before your session, we send you the photographer's details so you can share them with your host.
Minitas Beach: Ocean Backdrop at Sunset
Minitas Beach offers calm turquoise water and soft afternoon light, and it is a favorite for families who want the classic Caribbean beach photo. For Casa de Campo guests, the location fee is US$100. If someone in your group has limited mobility, keep in mind that walking on sand can be tiring, and plan a spot close to the access path.

Altos de Chavón: Timeless Architecture
Altos de Chavón is a Mediterranean-style village with stone walls, cobblestone streets and views over the Chavón River. It creates elegant portraits that feel completely different from a beach session. Based on our booking experience, the location fee is US$100 if you are staying in Casa de Campo, or US$200 if you are staying outside the resort. We request the permit at least four days before your session, and the latest session start is 5:00 p.m. The session can finish by 6:00 p.m., so we plan the timing accordingly.

How We Photograph a Big Family Group
Your session is led by a photographer experienced in group portraits: someone who knows how to organize a large family quickly, keep the energy high, and make sure nobody is left out. This is the order we usually follow:
- The full family photo first, while everyone is fresh, clean and smiling.
- Grandparents with their grandchildren.
- Grandparents with their children.
- All the grandchildren together.
- All the men and all the women, a fun set every family loves.
- Each family unit, one by one, with time for natural, relaxed moments.
Starting with the full group is important: with small children, energy and outfits rarely last the whole session. Once the big photo is done, everyone can relax while we work with each family.
How Long Should a Large Family Session Be?
For large groups, we recommend a package of more than one hour. With more time, the photographer can work with each family without rushing, include every combination you want, and deliver a larger gallery. Our Premium package (1–2 hours, 90 photos) is the one most large families choose. You can see all the options on our Casa de Campo photoshoot prices page.
Multigenerational Family Photos: Tips for Grandparents and Little Ones
- Choose the afternoon. Around 5:00 p.m. in winter it is cooler and the light is softer, which makes a big difference for seniors and small children.
- Plan around naps. A rested toddler is the best guarantee of happy photos.
- Have chairs or a bench ready for grandparents, especially for longer sessions.
- Bring water and a small snack for the kids, and a towel if you are at the beach.
- Let us handle the posing. You do not need to organize anyone: just enjoy being together.
Milestone Birthdays: Celebrating a 70th, 80th or 100th in Casa de Campo
Some of our most meaningful sessions are milestone birthdays. Families who have booked with us include a mother's 70th birthday with nine family members at a villa in Casa de Campo, a grandmother's 80th with fourteen family members on the beach, and a grandfather's 100th birthday reunion with sixteen family members. In these sessions, the most important photos are often the simplest ones: the guest of honor surrounded by children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
If you are planning a surprise or a special moment during the session, tell us in advance. We will build the session around it.

What Should a Large Family Wear?
- Choose a palette, not a uniform. Two or three soft, coordinated colors (white, sand, light blue, sage) look more natural than identical outfits.
- Avoid big logos and neon colors, which distract from faces.
- Light fabrics such as linen and cotton are comfortable in the Caribbean heat.
- Comfortable shoes for Altos de Chavón; bare feet work beautifully at the beach.
