For a Secrets La Romana photoshoot, we photograph you on the beautiful beaches around the resort, not inside it. Couples can choose Los Melones, the public beach by the Bayahibe marina; Playa Magallanes and the Corazón de Bayahibe; or the quiet Playa La Laguna in Dominicus. In the afternoon we pick you up in the lobby, take you to your session and bring you back, with transportation included.
Secrets La Romana is an adults-only resort in Bayahibe, right next to its family sister, Dreams La Romana. Most of our Secrets guests are couples celebrating something special: a post-wedding session, an anniversary, a pregnancy announcement or a vow renewal. This guide explains where we shoot, how we get there and how to prepare.

Can You Take Photos Inside Secrets La Romana?
Not for a regular photoshoot. To let an outside photographer work inside the property, the resort charges the same permit it charges for weddings, which is far too expensive for a photo session. The good news is that the beaches around the resort are public and free, and they are more beautiful and less crowded than the resort's own sand.
How Transportation Works
- Early-morning sessions: the beach is close, so you can simply walk to the meeting point.
- Afternoon sessions for couples: we pick you up in the lobby of Secrets La Romana, take you to the location you chose and bring you back to your hotel.
- Groups or families of more than three people: we arrange a taxi for you, to the session and back.
Transportation is included in our packages. For exactly three people, our team provides the ride; larger groups travel by taxi. All the locations below are relatively close to the resort.
The Best Beaches for Couples Near Secrets La Romana
Los Melones Beach
A beautiful public beach close to the hotel, by the Bayahibe marina. It is the easiest option and works for any type of session, at sunrise or at sunset.
Playa Magallanes and the Corazón de Bayahibe
If you want photos that look different from every other beach session, this is the route. The Corazón de Bayahibe is a natural heart-shaped formation in the coral rock by the sea, and from there we finish at Playa Magallanes, with its small, private coves.
- Wear comfortable shoes: the ground around the heart is rocky.
- Tide matters: when the tide is very high, the sea covers the heart, so on those days we choose another location.
Playa La Laguna, Dominicus
A quieter beach in Dominicus, between Dreams Dominicus and Sunscape Dominicus. We love the light there, and the sunset looks amazing.
Ideas for Your Session at Secrets La Romana
Post-Wedding Sessions
Most couples arrive already dressed in their wedding outfits. If you want to go into the sea with your dress and suit, we love those photos. Just let us know in advance, so we bring the right equipment.
Pregnancy Announcements and Gender Reveals
Always bring your props: the ultrasound photo, a tiny baby outfit or a pregnancy test. They make it clear that this is not just a couples session, but the announcement of a baby. Anniversaries, Vow Renewals and Proposals
We have photographed everything from very simple vow renewals to surprise marriage proposals and anniversary sessions. Families with adult children also love a sunset session on these beaches.
What to Know Before Your Session
- Changing outfits: these are natural spots with no restrooms or changing rooms. Arrive in your first outfit. If you'd like a second look, choose something easy to change, like a dress over your swimwear; a quick change in the car is possible between locations.
- Shoes: sandals for the beach; comfortable closed shoes for the Corazón de Bayahibe.
- Going into the water: tell us in advance.
- Props: for announcements and reveals, remember to bring your own.
Best Time for Photos: Golden Hour or Early Morning
Sunsets on these beaches are priceless: the light is soft and warm, and the sky fills with color. Very early in the morning, the water turns a wonderful deep blue. Sunset in Bayahibe ranges from about 5:57 p.m. in November and December to about 7:15 p.m. in July, so afternoon sessions start roughly one hour before sunset. We confirm the exact time with you.
