It’s a shorter, more intimate type of session, often shot earlier in the pregnancy — sometimes even before you’re visibly showing — because the story here isn’t “we’re expecting and you can see it,” it’s “this is the moment we told the people who matter most.” We’ll ask you beforehand exactly how you’re planning to share the news, so we can plan the framing, the light, and the timing around that one moment instead of a long list of poses.

We position ourselves ahead of time so we’re never fumbling with the reveal itself, and we always shoot a few extra frames in the seconds right after, because that’s usually when the best, most unguarded reactions happen. If you’re including grandparents, siblings, or close friends in the reveal, let us know in advance so we can make sure everyone’s reaction — not just yours — ends up in the gallery.

Classic Maternity
This is the timeless version most people picture when they think “maternity photos” — later in the pregnancy, when the bump is full and round, photographed in golden hour light with a flowing gown catching the breeze on the beach. It’s usually the most relaxed of the three styles: fewer props, fewer surprises to time perfectly, just you (and your partner, or your other children, if they’re joining) walking the shoreline while we follow the natural moments — a hand resting on the belly, a forehead kiss, a toddler pressing an ear close to listen. If comfort is a priority at this stage, we keep the pace slow and build in plenty of breaks, so the session feels like an easy afternoon by the water rather than a long shoot to get through.
Where We Shoot Maternity Sessions
The same locations we know well for weddings and couples' sessions work beautifully for maternity — each with its own access process.
Private villa or Minitas Beach. Host authorization and access code required: villa/resort guests pay a beach fee directly at check-in — we’ll tell you exactly what to expect before your date.
Public beach access, no permit needed — calm water and soft sand make it one of our most comfortable options for later-stage sessions.
Taxi to the nearby public beach included, no extra fee — an easy option if you’re staying at either resort during your babymoon.

Can my partner or other children join the session?
Yes — many of our favorite maternity sessions include partners and siblings. Just let us know when you book so we can plan timing and locations that work for the whole family.
What should I wear for a maternity session?
Flowing, solid-color gowns in soft tones photograph beautifully against the beach and golden light. If you’d like guidance on gown options or styling, just ask when you book.
Is it safe to shoot on the beach while pregnant?
We keep sessions relaxed and unhurried, with plenty of breaks and no strenuous poses. That said, please confirm with your doctor that travel and beach walking are appropriate for your pregnancy before booking.
Do we need a permit for a maternity session?
It depends on location. Bayahibe’s public beaches need no permit; Casa de Campo and Altos de Chavón require host authorization and an access code, which we’ll walk you through in advance.
How far along is too far to shoot?
There’s no strict cutoff — we’ve shot sessions well into the third trimester. The main consideration is your own comfort with walking and standing on sand for the length of the session, which we can always shorten if needed.

Bayahibe’s calm, soft-sand beaches tend to be the most comfortable for later-stage sessions. Casa de Campo and Altos de Chavón offer more dramatic, varied backdrops if mobility isn’t a concern.
